What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small record that a site leaves in your browser. Similar records can also be kept in the browser's own memory (local storage). On this page, we call both of them "cookies".

Essential cookies (no permission needed)

The site does not work properly without these.

• Language choice (the lang cookie and a browser record): so that the site opens in the same language on your next visit, once you have picked a language from the language menu. Duration: 1 year.
• Your cookie choice (browser record): to remember whether you accepted or declined, so the box does not appear again on every page. Duration: until you change or delete it.
• Intro card (browser record): to show you the intro card only once. Duration: until you delete it.
• Security (Cloudflare, e.g. __cf_bm): to protect the site from harmful traffic, when needed. Duration: at most 30 minutes.

Statistics cookies (only if you give permission)

• Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_<id>): to understand how visitors use the site. Duration: 2 years. If you choose "Decline", these cookies are never loaded.

Counting without cookies

Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics. This tool does not use cookies and does not identify you.

How do you change your choice?

• On your first visit, you choose "Accept" or "Decline" in the box that opens.
• To change your mind, use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
• You can also delete cookies in your browser's settings. The site still works. Only your language choice is forgotten.
